The L'Alt Pirineu Natural Park is the largest protected natural area in Catalonia, with an area of almost 80,000 hectares, in the regions of El Pallars Sobirà and L'Alt Urgell. It represents a reserve of the natural and cultural heritage of the Pyrenees. Of note are the extensive pastures maintained thanks to the activity of livestock, the presence of emblematic fauna, such as the capercaillie, the bearded vulture or the brown bear, and the combination of an enormous diversity of landscapes typical of the high and mid-mountain Pyrenees.
